FOOD PACKAGING A MUST! KEY FUNCTIONS Communicate legal notices and necessary indications about the nature of the packaged product. Contain enables to preserve the integrity and cohesion of the product: shape, size, volume or quantities. Preserve ensures the safe and hygienic condition of the content with respect to external constraints: contamination, cooling and heating, lighting, theft… Combat wastefulness ensuring preservation and organoleptic qualities of the product. Facilitate proper use by consumers in terms of closing / reopening, convenience and gripping. Sell by ensuring the product promotion and attractiveness. Forwarding helps secure and optimize the product transport from the producer to the end consumer and limit logistics impacts, caused by products forwarding. 4

FOOD PACKAGING AN ENGAGEMENT! ENVIRONMENTAL PRINCIPLES Eco-design the aim of this is to design products in line with the principles of sustainable development and environmental friendliness. Each new product is subject to a full life cycle analysis, which allows quantifying and optimizing its environmental footprint. Eco-industrialization the processes used minimize the consumption of non-renewable energy, water and electricity within industrial plants applying a zero-discharge policy. Reuse each package is designed to ensure its domestic reuse (storage, conservation, reheating…) by end users. Recyclability every material used is aimed at being transformed into raw material or energy, depending on existing sorting and recycling units. After use, any packaging remains a noble material, 100 % recyclable. Circular economy as opposed to linear economy, it aims at closing the loop of a product cycle of life, thus reducing its environmental footprint and increasing its recycling. This is the base of energy transition. Citizenship it deals with the individual and collective eco-responsible behavior of end users. It is the key value, necessary to implement circular economy. 5
